Unicorn Athletic first ever match

Unicorn Athletic began life on the 26th of May 1977 as the football team of the Altrincham branch of the Junior Blues (Manchester City junior supporters club).
The team played in a kit provided by MCFC and the attached report has been taken from the Junior Blues newsletter.

The Unicorn Athletic u11 team were managed by Derek Calderbank. Home matches were played at Linotype’s ground opposite John Leigh park in Altrincham (now the location of Medway Crescent)

UAJFC u13 team 1979/80

In August 1979 the Altrincham branch of the Junior Blues hosted a group of Crystal Palace supporters over the opening weekend of the 1st Division when Palace were visitors at Manchester City. Although they were representing the Junior Blues the team wore their familiar striped Unicorn Athletic kit for the match at Smiths Field. The rugby pitch behind is now the location of Gresham Way.

This was taken at an away match v Stamford Lads on (a very muddy) Stamford Park. The team was managed by Brian Jones back row: Jones, Savage, Wadsworth, Cooper, Thompson, Bryant, Lawlor. front row: Graham, Rubinstein, Mackinnon, Yates, Lillas.
